Life, Culture and Travels from the perspective of a Cuban
A bit more of the left coast :)

Today I managed to get a second hand bicycle and it was quiet nice to ride it around the city. San Francisco hills will be unforgettable. Downhills are almost scary and to bike uphill you need really strong legs! 🙂 The person who sold us the bike is a Newyorker who moved to San Francisco in the summer of 69 and never came back.

In the afternoon I went to China Town for dinner. Two friends from TO are going to Burning Man as well so they have some time to go around today and tomorrow. We ate a yummy Chinese Hunan food and I just found out that San Fran has the biggest China Town in the world.

But the most amazing part of the day was going to the City Lights Bookstore and Vesubio bar. I didn’t have all the time I wanted to check out the amazing book selection they have. It is not possible in one visit. Found a bilingual anthology of new generation Cuban poets called ” The Island of my hunger”. Also found many books in Spanish and other interesting best sellers, graffiti books and art books. I have to come back to see the other floors.

No luck with the apartment yet. I realized that a lot of the ads found on internet indicate “No couples” for sublets/temporary apartments.

Also, many of the postings read: “We want no drama”, “we are a drama – free zone”. What’s up with the drama in San Fran? What does this term mean and why do they repeat it so much? Eventualy, I will follow up on this. 😀
