Paris to Rouen
Categories: Trips

We are on the road again! For three days, we will be traveling in Normandy with a friend. Yesterday afternoon, three of us took a train from Paris’ Saint Lazare station to the city of Rouen, with the idea of spending the night there and pick up a rental in the morning to drive around. After leaving our packs at the hotel we spent a few hours walking around a semi desert city. Most of the locals have closed their business for the summer vacation, which usually starts at the end of July. In Paris, lots of establishments are closed for a few weeks as well, but being a bigger city is less noticeable.

We were looking for a crepe place behind Notre Dame de Rouen cathedral and it was not a surprise that this creperie was also closed. It was past 10 pm and we continued exploring the little streets for a nice place to sit. We ended up in a small wine and tapas place that had a good crowd and was opened until 2 am. We gladly ordered a glass of wine and some French cheeses (Neufchâtel, Comte, San Marcelin) and rosette de Lyon with jambon serrano, chorizo and dry sausage.

On our way back to our hotel room we encountered some people drinking and dancing at a pub called L’Euro but the rest of the town looked dead.
At this moment, we are on our way to mont Saint Michel to see the monastery.

We will be back to Rouen on Monday to return the car.
