Life, Culture and Travels from the perspective of a Cuban
Up and down the hills…

Last few days I’ve been going around the Inner Richmond (or should I say up and down) buying groceries, doing my dirty Burning Man laundry and spending sometime with friends.
First, I entered a market with Russian products, Russian workers and customers speaking to me in Russian. Great! Even the tea boxes I got are from Russia. 🙂 They also had Greek, Italian and Eastern European sweets so I will have to come back to try something from the bakery.
Then, I tried to find a coin operated laundry and one of the things this city is not lacking of for sure are laundry and dry cleaning places! Almost every block has one! Never notice many in Toronto. Maybe the culture of using laundromats in USA is stronger. That’s probably why you see them in films all the time.
On the fun and interesting side, I went to SFMOMA and saw the temporary exhibition “Matisse, Picasso and the Parisian avant – garde”. I have had the opportunity to see Cubist Picasso before but this time I enjoyed a few paintings from his blue period.
On the yummy side, San Fran first sushi experience was tasty. We went to a downtown restaurant named Sanraku. Also, our friends took us to an Indian Restaurant on Clement St. (Oven Clay) where the food was excellent and they have a list of different stuffed nans. Lots of options and good size portions.
I haven’t checked out coffee places yet. Shame on me! I will, this weekend.

The city feels like a small town in so many ways but at the same time there is so much to do and it is so charming and relaxed.
I am obsessed with the hills and the architecture. I could imagine how difficult was to transport things and people two centuries ago in a city with so many hills (and not to forget the fog!)
